cushion cover / FUJIE TEXTILE
→(buy)Our cushions are crafted by "FUJIE TEXTILE," founded in Nishijin, Kyoto, with a history spanning over 140 years. Despite their long heritage, they actively collaborate with graphic designers and artists, continuously exploring new possibilities in textile expression.
The cushion design also incorporates the paper-cut patterns created specifically for this hotel. By translating paper-cut artwork (kirie) into patterns and applying a single motif repeatedly by hand, a design emerges that appears orderly at first glance, yet shifts its expression depending on your viewing angle and the light.
Looking at it from a distance versus happening to pick it up in your hands—the reason the same pattern looks different might just be that small discoveries are hidden within it.
