(parallel daily oasis)

Travel isn’t always about chasing far-off horizons. Sometimes, it’s about gently sliding into someone else’s everyday life—one that exists in the very same world, perhaps just a stone’s throw away.

「someone, 」 is a hotel brand designed for trying on a "what-if" lifestyle. Much like crashing at the home of a friend who knows how to charm their way through local life, you’ll stay in rooms shaped by distinct obsessions and philosophies, discovering comforts you never knew you needed. That single night might just nudge your own daily routine, offering a fresh perspective or a new set of choices.

At 「someone, kyoto」, each guest room is given its own name and motif.

For this project, approximately 200 original paper-cut motifs were created, from which motifs were carefully selected to match each room and item. Like a paper cutout shaped from a single square sheet, this hotel is also composed of collected fragments—of the passions, preferences, and everyday habits of someone living in Kyoto.

What exists here is not simply a hotel room meant merely for sleeping and staying overnight. It is a tiny "someone's room," seeped with the personal values and subtle obsessions of someone who lives, works, and creates in Kyoto.

When visiting someone’s home, you might find yourself drawn to a small object resting on a shelf, or find the music playing in the background strangely sticking in your mind. You might be deeply moved by a passage in a book you casually picked up. Through moments like these, touching upon tastes and perspectives you never knew before, you rediscover your own preferences and quirks. someone, kyoto wants to create a stay filled with moments just like that.

Some of the items placed in the guest rooms can be purchased right on the spot. If you find something you fall in love with during your stay, we hope you take it home into your own daily life. A small insight discovered on your journey might just carry over into your daily routine after you return home.

(catalog)

I love looking at people's rooms. A room reflects the person who lives there.

A room catches and holds the gestures of the person living in it. If there were something like 3D data accumulating every single trace of the inhabitant's behavior within the space, I believe the room itself would be its negative. Over time, a room is shaped along the contours of whoever lives there.

And people decorate their rooms. No matter how poor or wealthy, everyone brightens their living space in their own way. Whatever form it takes, within it dwells an open warmth striving to enrich daily life, alongside small, subtle obsessions.

Looking at a room allows you to (gently) sense what the person living there finds beautiful, what they hold dear, and what they love. I wanted to make someone, into that kind of hotel. Rather than relying on luxurious furnishings or an extraordinary worldview, could we not create the richness of a hotel in the same way we do in our everyday lives? The rooms of someone, are filled with the quiet, casual things we usually cherish and consider true richness. And this catalog serves as a guide, of sorts, to help you get to know these rooms. We have compiled information on the makers, the background of their creation, and the meticulous attention to detail behind each item found in this hotel.

Layers of time build up within a city. Not just hundreds of years of history, but a shop someone keeps returning to, a scenery someone holds dear, a casual moment that lingers in someone’s memory. It is the accumulation of these tiny moments of time that shapes the contours of this city. Even as a passerby, you are no exception. You leave behind a tiny moment, a memory of your own, in this city.

What is daily routine for someone may become a journey for someone else. Gathered here is someone, kyoto’s travel guide, created to help you discover such chance encounters.
